New Year New Trends

Well, I love the start of a new year! It also seems like the perfect time to discuss some upcoming home trends.

One of the big ones I think you will see more of will be beige making a comeback. Maybe not quite like it was 15 years ago, but it will be showing up.

Some people are not quite ready to break up with gray and that is understandable as gray has been a breath of fresh air. If this is you, you could slowly transition with a greige which we have already been seeing for some time now. Some of my favorite greige paint colors are Agreeable Gray, Amazing Gray and Anew Gray all from Sherwin Williams.

Another big change we will be starting to see is more wood tones in the kitchen. I still feel like there will be a lot of all white kitchens. White kitchens have a very timeless look, however, I am falling in love with some of the newer woods we are seeing. Some of my favorites are hickory with a nutmeg stain or some of the white oak with a medium gray stain.

There is always a way to work in some of this if you aren't ready to commit to a full wood kitchen. We recently did a kitchen with a combination of the two and I love how it turned out!

One last big change we will see more of is the dark and moody colors. Sherwin Williams color of the year, Urbane Bronze, is a perfect example of this. It is a dark gray with a slight bronze-brown undertone to it. This color also pairs well with the greige colors previously mentioned above. It is a very sophisticated neutral color. Urbane Bronze pairs well with all design styles: modern, traditional, farmhouse or even transitional. For somebody not comfortable committing to a full room, a dark accent wall is always a fun way to introduce a little of this trend!

I hope you all enjoyed hearing some of what you can expect to see more of this year in design trends. One last thing to remember is that trends are ever changing! It is part of my job to know what these are and to stay ahead of them. Ultimately it is your home, so if you don’t love what is trendy, don't do it!

A home that makes you feel good is the best style you can achieve!

All my best,

Stephanie
